Hello, everyone!
I am a Professor of Asian/Asian Diaspora Feminist Studies in the Department of Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Wake Forest University.
I am an interdisciplinary scholar-teacher whose work deploys queer of color critique to examine the interlocking systems of domination rooted in socially constructed categories of differences such as race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, nation, coloniality, language, and the body. I privilege an intersectional queer analytic. More specifically, I examine historical and cultural nuances of knowledge(s) embedded in the material realities of minoritized people of color to interrogate the complexities and contradictions of power, social institutions, interactions, and processes. My mobilization of queer of color critique articulates issues and concerns of globalization, postcolonialism, transnationalism, migration, or diaspora grounded in social activism and advocacy. As such, my research forefronts critical, intersectional, and transnational perspectives on differences, identities, and power.
I am the author of the award-winning Asians Loving Asians: Sticky Rice Homoeroticism and Queer Politics (2022, Peter Lang). I have published extensively, both individually and collaboratively, in a range of peer-reviewed journals, including Women’s Studies in Communication, Journal of Men’s Studies, Sexuality & Culture, Journal of Homosexuality, Journal of Communication Inquiry, Communication, Culture & Critique, and Critical Studies in Media Communication.
I hope you will get to know about me more through this website:)
